Hedva Amrani is not a new name in Israel. She started her career in the late 60’s as part of the world-famous duo ”Hedva and David.” Together they made it to the top in Israel, recorded many albums, and traveled throughout the world representing Israel.
In 1970 the duo won the 1st Yamaha Song Festival in Tokyo, Japan, with the song “I Dream of Naomi”(Ani Cholem Al Naomi) which sold over a million copies in Japanese, and from than on Japan became a second home for Hedva and David.
In the late 70’s, Hedva launched her solo career and had many hits. Her song “In One Heart” (Salam Aleikum) established Hedva as one of Israel’s most beloved singers. This hit was followed by “The Two of Us” (Shneinu Yachdav) and many more. Remarkably, since the early days of her career, Hedva’s songs are played daily on Israel’s radio stations and heard throughout the country.
Hedva divides her time almost equally between Israel and the United States and is a frequent guest artist on Israel television, radio and stage.
During the past two years, Hedva has spent much of her time working on her new CD just released on March 2007. This will be her first solo CD in almost ten years not including many appearances on compilation released by various record labels with other artists.
Hedva’s new CD is a collective work of Israel’s top writers. From Ehud Manor who wrote for her a song just a few weeks before he passed away with a melody by Korin Al Al. There are three songs by Israel Bright from the “Smachot.” Others by Hamutal Ben Ze’ev and Amit Zach, Mirit Shem-Ur and Israel Bright, Avi Toledano and Yoav Porat, Hedva Amrani and Amit Zach, Baruch Friedland, Doron Plaskow and Oren Avidor, Ran Sarig and Israel Bright and a song by Hedva herself. But for Hedva the most exciting work on this CD is the one written together with her son Doran Danoff
With The help of the CD producer Zvika Kagan, and musical directions and arrangements by Yaron Bachar and Amit Zach both well known in Israel, Hedva was finally able to complete this beautiful musical work. Yaron was able to get the best out of Hedva and his arrangements of acoustic guitars, strings, horns, and rhythm sections played by the best musicians of Israel are a unique blend of the new and old. The CD is young and fresh, yet with a mature flavor. Hedva’s vocal quality sounds better today than ever. It is soft and warm in her ballads, strong and clear in her upbeat selections, and always without any hard edges. There are eleven new songs on this CD, all unique.
Hedva continues to write and perform. Her One-Woman-Show is a memorable and entertaining event that delights critics and brings joy to audiences. from Tokyo to Tel-.Aviv, and all points in between. |
